What was Jennie's 2018 debut solo single?

Jennie’s 2018 debut solo single was “Solo.”

Released on November 12, 2018, through YG Entertainment and Interscope, the song marked the first solo release by a member of Blackpink. Teddy wrote the lyrics and co-composed the track with 24. Musically, it combines pop, dance and hip-hop elements with an EDM-influenced arrangement, while its lyrics focus on independence after a breakup.

Jennie had already debuted with Blackpink in 2016, but “Solo” introduced her as an individual recording artist. The release was supported by a high-profile music video and live performances, including stages connected to Blackpink’s concert activities. It topped South Korea’s Gaon Digital Chart and the Billboard K-pop Hot 100.

Several wrong options refer to other Blackpink members’ solo work. “On the Ground” was Rosé’s 2021 debut solo single, “Money” was a Lisa track from her solo debut, and “Flower” was Jisoo’s 2023 solo single. Thus, “Solo” is both the title and a fitting description of the release’s concept.
