Hull City defeated Manchester United 2–0 on the 2026–27 Premier League opening weekend.
The match was played at the MKM Stadium on Saturday 22 August 2026. Hull’s two-goal victory gave the promoted club an ideal return to the Premier League and left Manchester United without a goal in their opening fixture.
It was one of several striking results involving newly promoted teams in the first round. Ipswich Town also won, beating Sunderland 2–1, while Coventry City lost 3–0 to defending champions Arsenal.
The result was especially notable because Hull faced a club with a much longer history in the Premier League. Hull’s return followed a nine-year absence from the top flight, while Manchester United were beginning another season among the division’s established members.
