What was Georgia O'Keeffe's first professional art school, attended in Chicago?

The story behind the answer

Georgia O'Keeffe's first professional art school was the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.

O'Keeffe studied at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago from 1905 to 1906. The school provided rigorous training in drawing and painting and introduced her to the academic methods that dominated American art education at the time. She later attended the Art Students League in New York.

O'Keeffe eventually moved away from strict academic imitation and toward abstraction. Her studies with Arthur Wesley Dow at the University of Virginia summer school and Columbia University were especially important because Dow emphasized composition, line, and color rather than simply copying nature. That approach helped her develop the independent visual language that later made her a leading modernist.
