What was Georgia O'Keeffe's first major art school in Chicago?

The story behind the answer

Georgia O'Keeffe's first major art school in Chicago was the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.

O'Keeffe studied there from 1905 to 1906, receiving traditional academic training in drawing and painting. The school was one of the most important art institutions in the United States and was connected with the Art Institute of Chicago museum.

She later studied at the Art Students League in New York, where she worked under William Merritt Chase and won a scholarship for her painting. These schools gave her a strong foundation in observational drawing and academic technique.

O'Keeffe eventually rejected the idea that art should simply reproduce visible reality. The influence of Arthur Wesley Dow, whose teaching emphasized composition and design, helped her pursue a more personal and abstract approach. The Chicago school and the New York league were therefore separate stages in her education.
