What was Georgia O'Keeffe's 1932 painting of an enlarged white flower called?

The story behind the answer

Georgia O'Keeffe's 1932 enlarged white-flower painting is titled Jimson Weed/White Flower No. 1.

The work depicts a jimson weed, also called Datura, with a large white trumpet-shaped bloom. O'Keeffe transformed a relatively ordinary plant into a monumental close-up, a method that became one of the best-known features of her flower paintings.

The painting became especially famous after it sold at auction in 2014 for $44.4 million, including fees. That sale set a record for the highest price paid for a work by a female artist at that time. Its auction history sometimes causes people to remember only the record price and overlook the painting’s earlier title and subject.

O'Keeffe repeatedly rejected the idea that her flowers had to be read as symbolic representations of female anatomy. She emphasized that enlarging a flower made people actually look at it.
