What was Beyoncé’s stage name in the 2000s film Austin Powers in Goldmember?

The story behind the answer

Beyoncé played the character Foxxy Cleopatra in Austin Powers in Goldmember.

Released in 2002, Austin Powers in Goldmember is the third film in the Austin Powers comedy series, directed by Jay Roach and starring Mike Myers in multiple roles. Beyoncé made her feature-film debut as Foxxy Cleopatra, an undercover agent and singer whose character deliberately draws on 1970s blaxploitation and funk imagery.

The film’s cast includes Michael Caine as Nigel Powers, Seth Green as Scott Evil, and Beyoncé alongside Myers. She also contributed to the soundtrack with “Work It Out,” a song that introduced her first solo single era before Dangerously in Love was released.

Foxxy Cleopatra is a fictional character and should not be confused with Beyoncé’s later portrayals of historical or fictional singers. She played Deena Jones in Dreamgirls and Etta James in Cadillac Records, but neither of those roles belongs to the Austin Powers film.
