Arsenal beat Coventry City 3–0 in the opening match of the 2026–27 Premier League season.
The Friday-night fixture at the Emirates Stadium gave Arsenal a strong start to their title defence. The champions scored three times and prevented Coventry from finding the net.
Kai Havertz, Bukayo Saka and Martin Ødegaard were the Arsenal goalscorers. The three-goal margin matched Arsenal’s joint-biggest home victory in a Premier League season opener, alongside their 3–0 win over Manchester City in 1994–95.
The scoreline is distinct from Brighton’s 4–0 victory over Aston Villa, which was the largest home win of the opening weekend. Arsenal’s result was the first match, but not the weekend’s biggest winning margin.
