What wand wood is associated with Harry Potter’s wand in the Harry Potter films?

The story behind the answer

Harry Potter’s wand is made of holly in the Harry Potter films.

The wand is eleven inches long and contains a phoenix feather core. In the films, it is the distinctive wand Harry receives from Ollivanders before beginning his first year at Hogwarts. Its design changes subtly across the series as Harry grows older, but holly remains the associated wood.

Harry’s wand has a special connection with another wand because its phoenix feather comes from the same phoenix as the feather in Tom Riddle’s wand. This creates the “brother wands” relationship that helps explain their unusual encounters.

The holly wand is sometimes confused with Harry’s second wand, which he uses after his original wand is damaged during the seventh film. That later wand is made from blackthorn, while the Elder Wand is associated with elder wood.
