What type of horns does an Arctic musk ox have?

The story behind the answer

An Arctic musk ox has curved horns.

Both male and female musk oxen grow horns, which begin near the center of the skull and curve downward and outward before turning upward at the tips. In adult bulls, the horn bases become especially broad and form a heavy boss across the forehead. This thick structure helps protect the head during clashes.

Musk oxen may use their horns in fights over access to females, particularly during the breeding season. They also use their heads and horns defensively when a herd forms a protective circle around calves. The animals face outward, presenting a difficult barrier to wolves and other predators.

Musk ox horns are sometimes confused with antlers. Antlers are generally branched structures that are shed and regrown, while musk ox horns are permanent keratin-covered structures. The species is therefore a horned relative of goats and sheep, not a deer.
