A waltz traditionally follows the formal presentation at a quinceañera reception.
The quinceañera and her court may perform a choreographed waltz after being introduced. The dance is often rehearsed in advance and may begin with the celebrant dancing with her father or another honored partner before expanding to the court.
The waltz reflects European ballroom traditions that became part of formal coming-of-age celebrations in Latin America. In modern events, families may add contemporary music, choreographed routines, or regional dances alongside the traditional waltz.
A waltz is not the same as the entire court presentation. The court is the group of attendants, while the waltz is the dance performed by some or all of the participants. Customs differ, so a quinceañera may include no waltz at all.
