What trophy is awarded to winners at the MTV Movie & TV Awards?
Answer
Golden Popcorn
Winners at the MTV Movie & TV Awards receive the Golden Popcorn trophy.
The MTV Movie Awards began in 1992 as a deliberately informal alternative to traditional film ceremonies. Instead of focusing only on conventional industry categories, the event celebrated popular screen moments such as Best Kiss, Best Fight, and Best Comedic Performance.
The trophy’s popcorn design suits the ceremony’s moviegoing theme and playful tone. MTV later expanded the event to include television categories, leading to the name MTV Movie & TV Awards. The exact branding and category list have changed across different editions.
The Golden Popcorn is often confused with MTV’s Moon Person, the astronaut-shaped trophy presented at the Video Music Awards. These awards are separate events: the Movie & TV Awards emphasize screen performances and fan-friendly categories, while the VMAs primarily honor music videos and musical artists.
