What subject does Mr. Goldenfold teach Morty?

Mr. Goldenfold teaches Morty math. He works at Harry Herpson High School and takes mathematics extremely seriously, often loudly emphasizing its importance to his students.

Goldenfold is introduced in “Lawnmower Dog,” when Rick and Morty enter his dreams to persuade him to raise Morty’s grades. The plan quickly becomes dangerous because Goldenfold has unusually strong control over his dream world. His subconscious produces bizarre scenarios, including his idol Mrs. Pancakes and deeply repressed attractions.

The episode turns Goldenfold’s ordinary school role into a surreal adventure modeled partly on Inception and A Nightmare on Elm Street. Rick and Morty eventually encounter Scary Terry while moving through nested dreams, then help Terry confront his own anxieties. Goldenfold later remains a recurring teacher, but the series rarely treats him as merely an academic figure: his math classroom is also a window into the show’s darker, stranger comedy.
