Saudi Aramco trades on the Saudi Exchange under the stock-market symbol 2222.
Saudi Aramco, formally Saudi Arabian Oil Company, listed its shares on the Saudi Exchange, also known as Tadawul, in December 2019. Its initial public offering was one of the largest in financial history and gave the company an enormous market valuation.
The four-digit symbol 2222 is used to identify Saudi Aramco’s ordinary shares in the Saudi market. This differs from alphabetic symbols commonly used by major U.S. companies, such as AAPL for Apple and MSFT for Microsoft.
Saudi Aramco is headquartered in Dhahran and operates across oil exploration, production, refining, chemicals, and energy-related businesses. Its market capitalization can rise or fall as its share price changes, while the company’s importance is also influenced by global oil prices and production conditions.
