Players who bought Rocket League before its free-to-play transition received Legacy status. Psyonix introduced the status when Rocket League became free to play on September 23, 2020, recognizing players who had supported the paid version.
Legacy status came with several benefits, including Rocket League-branded downloadable content released before free-to-play, a Golden Cosmos Boost, Dieci-Oro Wheels, an Est. 20XX title, and a Huntress Player Banner. Eligible players also received Legacy-quality versions of certain common items.
The status was not a competitive rank or a founder designation. “Champion” refers to a rank, while “Veteran” is not the official name of this transition reward. Eligibility was tied to having played before the free-to-play launch, not simply to joining the game afterward.
