What sponsor name was used for the first three Cricket World Cups?

The first three Cricket World Cups were known as the Prudential Cup.

Prudential sponsored the inaugural tournament in England in 1975, and its name remained attached to the 1979 and 1983 editions. The competitions were therefore commonly identified as the Prudential Cup, followed by the year. The first three tournaments all used England as host and featured 60-over matches in traditional white clothing with red balls.

The sponsorship names changed after 1983. The 1987 tournament was the Reliance World Cup, the 1992 edition was known as the Benson & Hedges World Cup, and the 1996 event carried the Wills World Cup name. These changes explain why the alternative answers may sound familiar but belong to later tournaments.

The Prudential-sponsored era also produced the first three champions: the West Indies won in 1975 and 1979, while India won in 1983. The original trophy was later replaced by different designs before the ICC introduced a permanent World Cup trophy in 1999.
