What Spanish-language AMA version launched in 2015?

The story behind the answer

The Spanish-language AMA version launched in 2015 was the Latin American Music Awards.

The first Latin American Music Awards ceremony took place on October 8, 2015, at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles. Telemundo broadcast the event, which was hosted by Mexican singer and actress Lucero. The awards were produced by Dick Clark Productions, linking the new ceremony to the company behind the American Music Awards.

The Latin AMAs recognize popular Latin music across styles and markets, including regional Mexican, pop, tropical, urban, and other Latin categories. They are easy to confuse with the Billboard Latin Music Awards, which focus heavily on chart performance, or with long-running ceremonies such as Premio Lo Nuestro and Premios Juventud. The 2015 inaugural ceremony featured nominees including Nicky Jam, J Balvin, Enrique Iglesias, and Romeo Santos; Enrique Iglesias led the winners with five awards.
