What soft drink company produces Sprite and Fanta?

The story behind the answer

The Coca-Cola Company produces Sprite and Fanta. Both are major soft-drink brands in the company's global beverage portfolio, although their recipes, histories, and availability vary by country.

Sprite is a clear lemon-lime drink. The modern beverage was developed in West Germany in 1959 as Fanta Klare Zitrone, meaning “Fanta Clear Lemon,” and it was introduced in the United States under the Sprite name in 1961. It was positioned partly as a competitor to 7 Up.

Fanta has an older and more unusual origin. Coca-Cola Deutschland developed it in Germany in 1940 when wartime restrictions made the original Coca-Cola ingredients difficult to obtain. Today, Fanta is sold in many fruit flavours, and formulas differ substantially between markets. Coca-Cola, Sprite, and Fanta are brands of the Coca-Cola Company; they are not separate parent companies. PepsiCo is a competing beverage corporation whose brands include Pepsi and Mountain Dew.
