What role did Joe Alwyn receive on Taylor Swift’s “august”?

Joe Alwyn received a co-producer credit on Taylor Swift’s “august.”

Swift and Jack Antonoff are credited as the song’s writers and producers, while Alwyn is additionally credited as a producer. His production credit reflects his broader involvement in the creation of Folklore during the pandemic-era sessions.

Alwyn was credited under the pseudonym William Bowery on several Folklore and Evermore songs, but the “august” credits identify him as Joe Alwyn. The Recording Academy later recognized him as a co-producer after Folklore won Album of the Year at the 63rd Grammy Awards.

A frequent confusion is treating Alwyn as a vocalist or co-writer on every Folklore track. His role on “august” is specifically production, while Swift and Antonoff are the song’s credited writers.
