Beyoncé played Nala in Disney’s 2019 film The Lion King.
The film is a photorealistic computer-animated remake of Disney’s 1994 traditionally animated feature. Beyoncé provided the voice for the adult Nala, a lioness who is Simba’s childhood friend and later becomes his mate and queen.
Donald Glover voiced Simba, while James Earl Jones reprised his role as Mufasa from the original film. The cast also included Chiwetel Ejiofor as Scar, Alfre Woodard as Sarabi, and Seth Rogen as Pumbaa.
Beyoncé also curated and executive-produced The Lion King: The Gift, an album released in connection with the film. She recorded “Spirit,” an original song associated with the project. Nala should not be confused with Kiara, the daughter of Simba and Nala in The Lion King II: Simba’s Pride.
