What is the name of Beyoncé’s 2019 album featuring “Spirit” from The Lion King?

Beyoncé’s 2019 album featuring “Spirit” from The Lion King is The Lion King: The Gift.

The album was released on July 19, 2019, alongside Disney’s photorealistic remake of The Lion King. Beyoncé voiced the adult Nala in the film and curated the album as an accompanying project rather than presenting it as a conventional Beyoncé studio album.

The Lion King: The Gift brings together African artists and international performers, reflecting the film’s setting and the broader musical influences associated with the project. “Spirit,” performed by Beyoncé, was the album’s lead single and appeared in the film’s soundtrack context.

The album should not be confused with Black Is King, Beyoncé’s 2020 visual album and film inspired by the music of The Lion King: The Gift. The two projects are closely related, which is why they are often mixed up. The Gift is the 2019 album; Black Is King is the later visual companion work.
