Answer
31st overall
Doc Rivers was selected 31st overall in the 1983 NBA draft before becoming a 2026 Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame coach.
Rivers entered the draft after three seasons at Marquette University. The Atlanta Hawks chose him in the second round with the 31st overall selection, beginning an NBA playing career that lasted more than a decade.
As a player, Rivers was a point guard best known for his years with Atlanta, where he played alongside star forward Dominique Wilkins. He later played for the Los Angeles Clippers, New York Knicks and San Antonio Spurs before moving into coaching.
Rivers eventually became one of the NBA’s most successful coaches.
