A Parks and Recreation Special is the 126th overall episode of Parks and Recreation.
The special was broadcast on April 30, 2020, several years after the sitcom’s regular run ended. Because it was counted as an official special episode, it followed “One Last Ride,” the series finale, which was episode 125 in the overall numbering.
That makes the special both a reunion and the show’s 126th episode. It was not a new season premiere, and it did not restart the numbering system; episode guides place it under a separate special-episode heading while continuing the series total.
The episode was produced in only about three weeks and filmed entirely through remote recording. Its quarantine setting allowed the writers to address the real-world pandemic while bringing back the principal cast and several recurring characters. The overall count is therefore 126, not 127 or 125.
