What online social network does Hinder credit for getting their music heard?

The story behind the answer

Hinder credits MySpace with helping get their music heard.

In the mid-2000s, MySpace was more than a general social network: it was a major discovery platform for unsigned and emerging bands. Artists could upload songs, build a profile, collect fans and communicate directly with listeners before traditional radio or a major-label campaign reached them.

That environment helped Hinder build attention during the period leading to its 2005 debut album, Extreme Behavior. The Oklahoma City hard-rock band subsequently broke through with songs such as “Lips of an Angel,” which became a major mainstream hit. MySpace also remained part of the band’s online promotion; Hinder announced later releases through its MySpace page.

The answer is sometimes confused with a record label, radio station or music-video channel. MySpace did not sign Hinder, but it gave the group a visible online place to share recordings and reach potential fans. In the pre-streaming era, that direct exposure could significantly influence a band’s momentum.
