J.R.R. Tolkien names Frodo Baggins as the ring-bearer who carries the One Ring to Mordor.
Frodo inherits the Ring from his uncle Bilbo in the Shire. After Gandalf explains its identity and danger, Frodo agrees to leave home and eventually takes the Ring to Rivendell. At the Council of Elrond, he accepts the task of carrying it toward Mordor, where it can be destroyed in the fires of Mount Doom.
Frodo does not complete the journey alone. Samwise Gamgee accompanies him, and the Fellowship initially includes representatives of several peoples. Bilbo was an earlier ring-bearer, but he did not carry the Ring to Mordor. The distinction matters because Tolkien’s story follows the burden of the Ring over a long journey rather than treating possession and destruction as the same event.
