McDonald’s called its restaurant design modernization program introduced in 2003 “Forever Young.”
The program aimed to refresh the appearance and customer experience of McDonald’s restaurants. Changes associated with the modernization effort included updated interiors, redesigned seating, improved lighting, and a more contemporary visual environment.
The name reflected an effort to keep the brand current while preserving the familiarity of the Golden Arches. This was part of a broader period of brand renewal that also included the “I’m Lovin’ It” campaign and operational changes under McDonald’s turnaround strategy.
“Forever Young” is sometimes confused with “Plan to Win,” which was a broader business strategy rather than the specific restaurant-design program. The two initiatives were related in time but had different purposes.
