J.R.R. Tolkien called the Elvish language most associated with the Noldor Quenya.
Quenya is one of Tolkien’s constructed languages and is based partly on the sounds and structures of languages such as Finnish and Latin. In the history of Middle-earth, it developed from the speech of Elves and became especially connected with the Noldor, the clan that returned from Aman to Middle-earth.
In Tolkien’s later linguistic conception, Quenya was a formal and historically prestigious language. It was not simply a universal Elvish language; Sindarin served as the everyday Elvish tongue for many communities in Tolkien’s later stories.
The names “High-elven” and “Q(u)enya” can appear in different discussions of the language. Quenya is the standard modern spelling used in reference works and in Tolkien scholarship.
