Elon Musk rebranded Twitter as X in 2023.
Musk completed his acquisition of Twitter in October 2022 after a prolonged legal and financial process. In April 2023, Twitter, Inc. was merged into X Corp, a company associated with Musk’s broader plan for an “everything app.”
The platform’s name and branding changed during July 2023. The familiar blue-bird identity was replaced by an X logo, while the website continued operating as a social-media service for posts, messages, video, and other features.
The company name and the consumer service are sometimes confused. X Corp referred to the corporate entity involved in the reorganization, while X became the public-facing name of the platform formerly known as Twitter.
