“I’m Lovin’ It” became McDonald’s global campaign platform after its launch in 2003.
The campaign was created for McDonald’s by the advertising agency Heye & Partner and was adapted for international use. Its short first-person wording was designed to sound conversational and easy to translate or perform in different markets.
The campaign also used the musical phrase “ba da ba ba ba,” which became closely associated with the brand. Although the campaign’s music is frequently discussed separately, the slogan itself is the central branding element.
McDonald’s had used many locally varied slogans before 2003. “I’m Lovin’ It” stood out because the company treated it as a broad, long-running global platform rather than a brief regional line. The phrase remains one of the brand’s most recognizable modern identifiers.
