Jobseekers can post CVs on LinkedIn. A CV, or curriculum vitae, summarizes a person’s education, employment history, skills, achievements, and qualifications for potential employers or recruiters.
LinkedIn’s profile system is designed to function as a continuously updated professional résumé. Users can enter job titles, employers, dates, education, certifications, projects, languages, and skills. They may also upload or link to a separate CV, depending on how they are using the platform and applying for jobs.
The terms “CV” and “résumé” are often used differently by region. In the United States, a résumé is usually a concise job-application document, while a CV may be longer and more academic. In everyday LinkedIn usage, however, “CV” is a fair general term for a document that presents a candidate’s professional background.
LinkedIn is more than a document repository: recruiters can search profiles, employers can advertise vacancies, and candidates can contact hiring teams or display work samples. A strong profile therefore complements, rather than always replaces, a tailored application document.
