“Our Town” is the song from Pixar's Cars that won the 2007 Golden Globe for Best Original Song.
Randy Newman wrote “Our Town” for the film, and it is performed by James Taylor. The song accompanies a montage about Radiator Springs, showing the town's earlier prosperity, the arrival of the highway, and its gradual decline as traffic moves elsewhere.
The song won the Golden Globe Award for Best Original Song at the 64th Golden Globe Awards in 2007. It was also nominated for the Academy Award for Best Original Song, although it did not win that Oscar.
“Our Town” is often confused with “Life Is a Highway,” the energetic Cars end-credits song performed by Rascal Flatts, or “Real Gone,” performed by Sheryl Crow. Those songs are prominent in the soundtrack, but “Our Town” is the award-winning composition written by Newman.
