Answer
Through the Looking-Glass
Answer
Through the Looking-Glass
The sequel to Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland is Through the Looking-Glass, and What Alice Found There. Lewis Carroll published it in 1871, six years after the original Alice novel.
The two books return to Alice but give her a different kind of fantasy journey. In Wonderland, the imagery is built largely around playing cards; in Through the Looking-Glass, Carroll organizes the adventure around a chess game. Alice enters the second world by passing through a mirror, where ordinary logic is reversed and familiar objects, nursery-rhyme figures, and chess pieces become animate characters.
The sequel includes the Red Queen, the White Queen, Tweedledum and Tweedledee, Humpty Dumpty, the White Knight, and the Jabberwock. It is sometimes confused with Alice’s Adventures Under Ground, which was an earlier manuscript version of the first Alice story, not its sequel. Sylvie and Bruno and The Hunting of the Snark are also Carroll works, but neither continues Alice’s story.
