What is the title of the Assassin's Creed film released in 2016?

The film released in 2016 is titled Assassin's Creed.

Assassin's Creed is a science-fiction action film directed by Justin Kurzel and starring Michael Fassbender as Callum Lynch and his ancestor Aguilar de Nerha. It adapts the franchise's central idea of using the Animus to access ancestral memories, while telling a new story rather than directly adapting one game.

The historical sections take place during the Spanish Inquisition, where Aguilar is an Assassin. The modern plot involves Abstergo Industries and its attempt to use genetic memories in the conflict between Templars and Assassins.

The film was released in December 2016. It is sometimes confused with game titles such as Assassin's Creed Origins, which came out in 2017, but the movie's official title uses the franchise name without a subtitle.
