What is the title of Pixar’s Cars short series featuring Mater’s exaggerated stories?

Mater’s Tall Tales is the title of Pixar’s Cars short series featuring Mater’s exaggerated stories. The series presents Mater recounting improbable adventures, while Lightning McQueen often appears as his audience and companion.

The shorts intentionally blur the line between fact and fantasy. Mater claims to have taken part in extraordinary events, and the stories frequently end with another character appearing to confirm them. This recurring joke lets the series explore different genres, including spy stories, monster tales, and action adventures.

Mater’s Tall Tales debuted in 2008 as part of the Cars Toons series. The shorts were released through television, home entertainment, and other Pixar-related outlets. Although the stories are separate from the main feature-film plots, they use the same characters and settings, helping expand the Cars world between theatrical releases.
