What is the title of Pixar’s animated short-series spin-off about Mater’s exaggerated stories?

Cars Toons: Mater’s Tall Tales is Pixar’s animated short-series spin-off about Mater’s exaggerated stories.

The series features Mater recounting extraordinary adventures, often claiming that he played a major role in famous events. Lightning McQueen usually listens to the stories, and the episodes intentionally blur the line between Mater’s confident storytelling and what could actually have happened. The format allows Pixar to explore comedy without changing the main feature-film continuity in the same way a full sequel would.

The first shorts were released in 2008, after Cars introduced Mater as one of Radiator Springs’ most memorable residents. The episodes use different genres, including detective stories, monster comedy, and action-adventure parody. They also helped extend the franchise between theatrical films.

Cars Toons is distinct from the Cars feature films and from the later Cars on the Road series. Its title specifically refers to Mater’s tall tales rather than to Lightning’s racing career.
