What is the title of Georgia O'Keeffe's 1932 painting that features a large jimson weed flower?

The story behind the answer

Georgia O'Keeffe's 1932 painting featuring a large jimson weed flower is titled Jimson Weed/White Flower No. 1.

The painting presents a single white flower at monumental scale, filling much of the composition. O'Keeffe frequently enlarged flowers so viewers had to confront their forms, folds, and tonal changes rather than seeing them as small decorative objects.

Jimson Weed/White Flower No. 1 became especially famous after selling at auction in 2014 for $44.4 million. That price made it, at the time, the most expensive painting by a female artist ever sold at auction.

The work is sometimes confused with O'Keeffe's paintings of irises or poppies because all use close-up floral compositions. Its identifying subject is the white jimson weed, also called Datura.
