“Let It Go” is Elsa’s solo song in Disney’s Frozen that begins with “The snow glows white.”
The song was written by Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez and performed in the film by Idina Menzel. It accompanies Elsa’s decision to leave Arendelle and openly use her ice powers rather than continue hiding them.
The phrase is sometimes confused with “Into the Unknown,” Elsa’s major solo in Frozen II, or “Show Yourself,” another important Elsa song from the sequel. Those songs belong to different moments and films.
“Let It Go” won the Academy Award for Best Original Song and became one of Disney’s most recognizable musical numbers. Demi Lovato recorded a separate end-credit version, while Menzel sings the in-story performance.
