Answer
The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe
C.S. Lewis’s first published Narnia novel was The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.
Published in 1950, the book introduces the world of Narnia through four English children: Peter, Susan, Edmund, and Lucy Pevensie. Lucy discovers Narnia by entering a wardrobe, and the children become involved in the struggle against the White Witch.
Although it was the first Narnia book published, modern editions often place it second in the series’ internal chronological order, after The Magician’s Nephew. Lewis himself originally wrote and published the books in the order readers first encountered them.
The novel’s title names three central images: Aslan, the White Witch, and the wardrobe. Aslan is the lion who leads the resistance against the Witch’s rule.
