Renaissance is the title of Beyoncé’s 2022 album inspired in part by dance-music traditions.
Released on July 29, 2022, Renaissance is Beyoncé’s seventh studio album. It draws on house, disco, funk, dance, and R&B, while incorporating samples and interpolations connected to earlier Black and queer dance-music cultures. The album was presented as the first act of a planned three-part project.
Its lead single, “Break My Soul,” became Beyoncé’s first solo Billboard Hot 100 number-one single since “Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It).” Other prominent tracks include “Cuff It,” “Alien Superstar,” and “Virgo’s Groove.” Renaissance received the Grammy Award for Best Dance/Electronic Music Album.
The album is sometimes confused with the broader Renaissance World Tour, which began in 2023. The recording and the tour share a title, but Renaissance specifically identifies the 2022 studio album.
