Beyoncé’s 2019 album and film about her Coachella performance are titled Homecoming.
Homecoming: A Film by Beyoncé premiered on Netflix on April 17, 2019. It documents the preparation and execution of Beyoncé’s 2018 Coachella performances, including rehearsals, creative meetings and the finished stage production.
The accompanying live album, Homecoming: The Live Album, was released the same day. It includes performances from Beyoncé’s solo catalog as well as Destiny’s Child songs performed with Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams.
The title alludes to the homecoming traditions of historically Black colleges and universities, whose marching bands and step-show culture strongly influenced the concert’s visual language. It is distinct from Black Is King, a 2020 visual album connected to The Lion King: The Gift.
