Beyoncé’s 2016 visual album about a woman confronting betrayal is Lemonade.
Lemonade was released on April 23, 2016, alongside an hour-long film broadcast on HBO. The album combines songs with poetry and visual chapters, creating a connected work rather than a conventional collection of unrelated music videos.
Its themes include infidelity, anger, grief, reconciliation, family, Black identity, and resilience. The project draws on a wide range of musical styles, including R&B, rock, country, blues, pop, and hip-hop. It also features contributions from artists including Jack White, Kendrick Lamar, James Blake, and The Weeknd.
Lemonade is often confused with Beyoncé, her 2013 self-titled visual album, or Black Is King, her 2020 film connected to The Lion King: The Gift. Lemonade was Beyoncé’s sixth studio album and earned a Grammy nomination for Album of the Year.
