J.K. Rowling’s fictional detective is named Cormoran Strike.
Cormoran Strike is the central investigator in Rowling’s crime novels published under the pseudonym Robert Galbraith. He is a former military investigator who works as a private detective in London. The first novel in the series, The Cuckoo’s Calling, introduced Strike and his temporary secretary, Robin Ellacott.
“Cormoran” is Strike’s given name, while “Strike” is his surname. Readers sometimes confuse Robert Galbraith, the author name on the books, with the detective’s name. They are not the same person: Galbraith is Rowling’s pseudonym, and Strike is the fictional protagonist created for the series.
The novels continue beyond the opening case and develop the professional relationship between Strike and Robin. The series has also been adapted for television as Strike, with Tom Burke playing the title character in the BBC adaptation.
