Meta Platforms trades under the stock-market ticker META.
The company changed its corporate name from Facebook, Inc. to Meta Platforms, Inc. in October 2021. Its Class A common stock began trading under META in June 2022, replacing the former FB symbol.
Meta owns Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, and Messenger, making it one of the largest global companies in social networking and digital advertising. It also develops virtual- and augmented-reality products through its Reality Labs division and has invested heavily in artificial-intelligence research and infrastructure.
The name change can cause confusion because Facebook remains the name of one of Meta’s major platforms. META identifies the publicly traded parent company, not the Facebook service itself. Like other market-cap leaders, Meta’s valuation changes with its share price, earnings expectations, advertising performance, and investor views of its long-term technology investments.
