America250 is the shorter public name of the United States Semiquincentennial initiative.
The name combines “America” with the number of years being commemorated. It gives the large national anniversary effort a brief identity that can be used across educational programs, public events, partnerships, and commemorative materials.
The official historical description is United States Semiquincentennial, but that phrase is longer and less familiar to many audiences. America250 is therefore the campaign-style name most visibly associated with the 2026 celebration.
The number does not mean the United States was founded in 250 CE or that the country has existed for exactly 250 years under its present constitutional system. It refers to 250 years since the Declaration of Independence was adopted in 1776.
