What is the result of giving a zombie pigman a delicious cake?

The story behind the answer

Giving a zombie pigman a cake does nothing: zombie pigmen do not eat cake or react to it as a special item.

In Minecraft, cake is primarily a player food item placed as a block. Players can interact with it repeatedly to eat its slices, but hostile mobs—including zombie pigmen—have no cake-feeding behavior. A cake placed near one therefore remains untouched while the mob continues its normal AI behavior.

The name can cause some confusion. “Zombie pigman” was the familiar name for the Nether mob before Minecraft 1.16, when Mojang renamed it “zombified piglin” as part of the Nether Update. The renamed mob still does not eat cake. Players may also mix this up with villagers, pandas, or other mobs that have particular food-related mechanics, but none of those interactions apply here.

The nearby fact many players ask about is whether cake can be carried like ordinary food: it cannot be eaten directly from the inventory. It must be placed on a suitable surface first, after which players can consume its seven slices.
