Hogwarts students use Platform 9¾ to board the Hogwarts Express in J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter series.
The platform is located at London’s King’s Cross railway station, between the real platforms 9 and 10. In the books, passengers reach it by passing through a barrier between those platforms. The Hogwarts Express then carries students to Hogsmeade station at the beginning and end of school terms.
Platform 9¾ first appears prominently when Harry travels to Hogwarts for the first time in Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. Mrs. Weasley explains how to enter the platform, and Harry later becomes familiar with the journey as a regular part of the school calendar.
King’s Cross became a major Harry Potter visitor site after the books and films became popular. The station has displayed a luggage trolley appearing to pass through a wall, although the filming location for the barrier scenes was elsewhere in the station complex.
