What is the nickname of the manager of the Skarloey Railway?
Answer
The Thin Controller
Answer
The Thin Controller
The manager of the Skarloey Railway is nicknamed the Thin Controller.
In the television series, the Thin Controller is Mr. Peregrine Percival, the calm but authoritative controller of the narrow-gauge Skarloey Railway. He is often seen supervising the railway’s engines, checking its operations, and travelling around Sodor on his bicycle.
The Skarloey Railway serves the mountainous parts of Sodor and is home to narrow-gauge engines such as Skarloey, Rheneas, Sir Handel, Peter Sam, Duncan, and Rusty. Its controller fills a role similar to Sir Topham Hatt’s role on the North Western Railway, although the two railways operate separately in much of the later series.
The nickname can cause confusion because “controller” and “manager” are used somewhat differently across the books and television adaptations. In The Railway Series, more than one person is associated with managing the railway, and Peter Sam is also connected with the name in some stories. In the television continuity, however, Mr. Percival is the canonical Thin Controller.
