What is the nickname of the main stadium used for the 2008 Beijing Olympics?

The story behind the answer

The main stadium used for the 2008 Beijing Olympics was nicknamed the Bird's Nest.

Its formal name is the National Stadium, and it stands in Beijing's Olympic Green. The nickname comes from its web-like exterior, formed by a complex lattice of curving steel members that resembles a giant nest.

The stadium was designed by the Swiss firm Herzog & de Meuron, with Arup involved in the structural engineering and Chinese artist Ai Weiwei serving as an artistic consultant. Construction began in 2003, and the venue officially opened on June 28, 2008.

The Bird's Nest hosted the opening and closing ceremonies and athletics during the 2008 Games. It is often confused with the Water Cube, the nearby aquatics venue, or Olympic Green, the larger Olympic district. The stadium was also reused for the 2022 Winter Olympics and Paralympics.
