What is the name of Toyota's full-size pickup truck?

The story behind the answer

Toyota’s full-size pickup truck is the Tundra. It has been Toyota’s full-size pickup in the United States since its introduction for the 2000 model year, with production beginning in May 1999.

The Tundra followed the Toyota T100, a smaller pickup that Toyota had marketed in North America. Unlike the T100, the Tundra was designed to compete directly with established full-size trucks such as the Ford F-Series, Chevrolet Silverado and Ram. Its first production site was Toyota’s plant in Princeton, Indiana; production later moved to San Antonio, Texas.

A common mix-up is confusing the Tundra with Toyota’s other trucks. The Tacoma is Toyota’s midsize pickup, while the Hilux is a globally sold pickup that is not marketed in the United States. The 4Runner is an SUV built on a related truck-based tradition, not a pickup. The Tundra has also earned Motor Trend Truck of the Year honors, including in 2000 and 2008.
