TikTok's feature for cutting and attaching a segment of another video is called Stitch. It lets a creator select part of an existing TikTok and integrate that excerpt into a new video.
Stitch is designed for continuation and response. A user might quote the setup of a joke, answer a question, continue a tutorial, critique a claim, or add a new scene after the selected clip. The result belongs to the person who records the new video, while the original source remains attributed through TikTok's interface.
The feature is often confused with Duet. Duet places the original and new recordings side-by-side at the same time; Stitch uses a clip from the original and attaches the creator's contribution in sequence. “Clip,” “Merge,” and “Remix” are understandable descriptions, but they are not TikTok's official feature label.
Creators can disable Stitch for all videos or adjust it for individual posts. Age and privacy settings also limit who can use the feature. In particular, TikTok applies stronger protections to content created by younger teenagers, so the feature's availability may differ from its basic definition.
