What is the name of the worldwide race featured in Pixar's Cars 2?
Answer
World Grand Prix
The worldwide race featured in Pixar's Cars 2 is the World Grand Prix.
The World Grand Prix is organized by Miles Axlerod to demonstrate the performance of Allinol, a new alternative fuel. Lightning McQueen enters the competition, and Mater accompanies him while becoming involved in an international spy operation.
The race visits three major locations: Tokyo, Porto Corsa, and London. These settings give Cars 2 a broader scale than the first film, which concentrates mainly on Radiator Springs and the surrounding American landscape.
The World Grand Prix is not the same competition as the Piston Cup. The Piston Cup is the domestic stock-car championship associated with Lightning's career in the first and third films. Cars 2 combines the international race with espionage, secret agents, sabotage, and a conspiracy involving Allinol.
